Most doctors won't do a pelvic exam if you are having your period. Call them and discuss it with
your doctors nurse, but they will probably reschedule your appointment.

Your doctor will keep anything you discuss with
her private. Ask her or her nurse if you want reassured. :)

Here is a good site that explains your first exam,
should you care to have it.

You should call the doctor's office asap and tell them you have your period. They may want or may not want to postpone your appointment.

Tell the doctor you are sexually active and tell them that this is a private matter to you. They will keep this in confidence.

Be sure to discuss birth control methods with the doctor. In fact the doctor may even prescribe them since they may relieve your cramps.

The doctor will do a regular exam and an internal exam. He/she will use a device called a speculum to open your vagina to make your cervix visible. Just relax and do deep breathing and your muscles will relax.
It should not hurt. If it does, tell the doctor.

Good luck! You'll be glad you went.

everything you tell doctors is private. which means if its a horribal thing, like they have to tell your parents becuase your in danger, they will. but you have to ask them not to tell your parents.

good luck :]
