Get a creme for your hair that'll protect it. [I use Studioline] You put it in your hair when it's wet, then dry it. Also, there's sprays that you can use [V05 is good]. You can find these at CVS, and any product would work. I use both of these things, and I straighten my hair often, and it really helps. And, you can use shampoos and conditioners that are specifically made to protect damage hair.

If your ends are ragged, the only thing that'll fix them is a trim. To prevent further damage, use a shampoo and conditioner designed to moisturize, "anti-split ends", something of that sort. I swear by Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. I ran out the other day and almost cried- it was a bad day. Hah, that product is the best. Garnier makes a serum too that's similar, and a lot cheaper. Use a styling cream that you like the smell of that works for your hair type. There's hundreds to pick from and most can be purchased at Walmart, CVS, etc. Heat protecting spray works well, and you can use it with another product for additional protection.

Oh, and turn down the temperature on your straightener by a few levels & see if it still works on your hair just the same. You may be surprised. Air-dry your hair as much as possible, and use a low heat setting when you do blow-dry. That way, you'll be applying less heat to your hair = less damage!
