The Dove shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair is absolutely WONDERFUL. It smells good and it really helps repair damage. Mane and Tail shampoos and conditioners are good for your hair because they have lots of protein. Pantene Pro-V's smooth and sleek shampoos and conditioners work great as well.

For no frizz, smoothness, and shine, you need some type of silk serum. The best kind out there is biosilk. It's like a clear semi-thick liquid and it's awesome. It can get expensive, so you could also try Silk Drops (the brand name is Special Effects). It's cheaper and you can get it at places like CVS or Walgreens. Just make sure to only use it on the ends of your hair. If you put it on the scalp, it will be greasy.

I wouldn't suggest mixing different types of shampoo and conditioners just because they work best when using the same brands together. Instead of relying on just the shampoo and conditioner to do all that stuff for your hair, remember to use a good product too (like the silk serum) and it will look beautiful.

You should use Nexxus Therrape Shampoo, also use the conditioner Nexxus Ensure. Nexxus was number one on geocities top ten shampoos and conditioners, you can find nexxus at cvs and it is pretty affordable. Also for all hair types use L'anza Shampoo Plus or Paul Mitchell Tea Tree(Paul mitchell also found at cvs). It works better if you use the same shampoo brand as the conditioner, because they use some of the same chemicalls and therefore they mix better. For more information go to paulmitchell.com, nexxus.com, lanza.com and prices for paul mitchell and nexxus go to cvs.com

I wouldn't think it's bad to use two different brands-I do. I use Pantene ProV and Vive. Vive works amazingly. It makes your hair soft and silky. I personally wouldn't want to use both shampoo and conditioner that do that to your hair, because it makes my hair look greasy.
If you color your hair, use a shampoo and condition specifically for it. It'll make the color last longer and protect it.
Also, to prevent damaging your hair, if you staighten it, blow dry it, or curl it often [anything that puts a lot of heat on your hair], use a creme that'll protect your hair. That too will make your hair smooth and smell good.
You can try using a friz spray. [It's by Treseme, I forget what it's specifically called, but its a spray and it's in a clear bottle.]
:)
