in track, it's a whole lot of smaller events, where you run shorter distances, or the field part (shotput, discus, pole vault, ect.)

cross country is where the whole team has to run a way long distance, sometimes a few miles.

- hope this helped

Basically, track has a number of events including:
Discus
Shot Put
short distance
long distance (1600 meters)

Cross country it running long distance; more like 3.5 and plus miles.

Track is usually called track and field.
It's just events the include running, throwing and jumping.
There's usually sprints, long distance runs, hurdling, relays, etc

Cross country is just about running. Usually a team has to complete a whole course together.
