I have medium brown hair and i wanted blonde highlights, now some say that might look ugly but lately i've been getting a lot of complements. I went with the hair stylist and she said a caramel color would look good and since i didnt know what i was doing i went with it. I also talked to the stylist and she said that if i thought it was too light i could just put a darker toner and we'd go from there.

Also the best self highlighting type to get i would have to say is cap and hook.
You put all your hair in a cap that has a bunch of tiny holes and pull your hair threw it with the hook.
