Have any of you ever met a celeb you worship?

Question Posted Sunday July 29 2007, 8:15 am

I've already asked a question on this but this a bit different..

In a week from today I'm meeting 3 guys I basically WORSHIP at a meet and greet. I have no idea how I'll react but knowing me I'll freeze up, be barely able to talk and then walk away thinking 'DAMN! I WISH I HAD SAID BLAH BLAH BLAH'

I even want to work up enough courage to ask them if they would let me take a photo with one of them.

What are ways I can stop myself from freezing up, stuttering and just being so scared of making a fool of myself I'm already doing it by trying to avoid it?

If it is a meet and greet the standard proceedure is that a line is formed with all the fans ad that they sit down for autographs and pose for pictures. In a scenario like that limit yourself to "I hope you are enjoying yourselves in our city. I'm glad you chose to play here."

Get your photo, article signed and you'll look fine. You seldom get a chance to say/do much else at a meet and greet if you can even get close to them because it's always a timed event.

If it's a backstage meet and greet than it's a lot different. The general rule (I've done a lot of theatre) is that anything told to you during a meet and greet or backstage is private.

You should ask them about what they've been doing in town or while offstage, their interests, new projects etc. Don't produce anything to sign or gush about them or their music as everyone does that.

The celebs I've met backstage have always told me more and spent more time with me if they were treated like normal people. They'll likely give you an autograph anyway and offer it first.

As far as a photo goes tell them "You must get sick of doing this but would you mind posing for a picture. It would mean a lot when I look back on this moment."

That should work. I've met a lot of musicians, actors and worked for a bit in a theatre and always noticed how people reacted to their fans at such functions.

They were more apt to brush someone off completely after the "I love your...." type questions and "Would mind signing this" and go back to what they were doing.

Yeah. I remember meeting Teddy Geiger and not knowing what to say at ALL. There's nothing you can really do then take a deep breath and not be afraid. Just think, "if I don't say or do this i'll regret it later." Don't be scared, your probably thinking it's going to be a lot worse than it actually turns out to be. Good Luck =]
