The thing about NYC is that there are "mall stores" gone solo (i.e. H&M, Forever21, etc) and there are these cute, but expensive, little boutiques that you have to really hunt down. I personally love H&M because its basically one stop shopping for me and I don't want to spend my day running around the city to find clothes. Searle is also a really good high-fashion store, and they are only in NYC. I wouldn't suggest you go to Forever21 though because the stores tend to be huge and its really hard to sift through all of their stuff. You HAVE to go to Bloomingdales though, it is amazing.
Other than that, definitely go to any Designer stores or Juicy shops. For the boutiques its really best to just come upon them.
Hope I helped!
--OH, and I almost forgot. Go down 5th Ave in midtown area and there is some hardcore shopping going on there. 59th st (where Bloomies is) also has a lot of shops [ thebecka's advice column | Ask thebecka A Question ]

I'm sure if you pop down to the shops/ fashion stores the sales people would assist you in finding something suitable. I mean thats what they get paid for right? so make use of that.
but just keep this in mind..when you yourself think something looks good on you and act confident, others will think so too. I mean Cameron Diaz made a necklace or something out of paperclips was it..and no one argued with that, because she does seem confident in what she does and wear.
hope i helped...takecare. [ RATZY's advice column | Ask RATZY A Question ]
