sex

Question Posted Tuesday July 24 2007, 7:22 pm

i've recently had sex with my boyfriend. i'm only 15, but it seemed like the right time. since then we've done it three more times, and on the third time, the condem broke, but it was before we'd finished that he noticed. it was only a few days ago, two or three. i don't know if it's too soon to get a pregnancy test, but it's scaring the hell out of both of us.

It is great that you have used contraception in the first place however, even though you hadn't finished there is still a risk that there was some pre-ejaculative liquid which can contain sperm.

There is only one pregnancy test in the UK (I am not sure about the US) that can tell you 2 days before your period is due whether or not you are pregnant so even if you took a test now, if it is too long before your period is due then the results may not be accurate.

I would suggest that you go straight to your doctor or family planning clinic and tell them what has happened. Again, I am unsure of how this works in the US however, here in the UK if an accident like this happens you can be given what we call "the morning after pill". Now don't be deceived by it's name, it can actually be taken up to 72 hours after the accident however, in your case, if it has already been 3 days, they may not be able to give it to you.

I must stress however that this is not akin to having an abortion or anything of that sort. This pill simply inhibits the egg from implanting into the lining of your womb before a pregnancy can occur.

I must stress to your also that time is of the essence and you must act quickly.

I hope this helps!
