Question Posted Saturday July 21 2007, 6:20 pm

I heard face masks cause more acne because it clogs your pores or something? Is that true?

Do face masks really help?

ive heard that.. thats why you leave masks on for like only 15 mins... some of the cheap ones may do more harm than good

but the refining mask by proactiv is great... I don't usually like their products but i sleep over night it this and its great!

It actually only clogs your pores if you don't wash it all off of your face. You need to use a washcloth or something to make sure that you got rid of it all, but if there is some still left, then yes, some types of face masks will clog your pores, causing acne.

However, I'd try Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque. It's very affordable, and it works very well for most people. It's also the really thick type of masque that is really easy to clean off of your face, so it doesn't clog your pores like a thin masque does... You can buy Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque at Sally Beauty Supply Stores, I believe. It's worth it, too. :)
