Nose piercing

Question Posted Saturday July 21 2007, 12:59 am

I'm getting my nose pierced next year or so. I'm just wondering.. how much it hurts. Like.. what does it feel like.. compare it to something? I don't really like needles, but I've always loved that damn piercing :/ I want a tiny hole/stud. So will the needle be huge anyway? Can I ask for a certain size? Do they numb it first or something? I've heard that some places do that or maybe I heard wrong.

Experiences? :]

Your eyes will probably water as the needle goes through. The needle itself isn't too bad and it only stings for about 3 seconds as it goes in.
Once the needle's in, sliding the stud or ring in will feel a little bit uncomfortable, but it's nothing too bad.
(I have experienced both)
Also, don't forget everyone has a different pain tolerance.. So what could be painful to your friend etc may not be for you. :)

I don't think numbing will be needed.. and do not take tablets for pain beforehand, because it can thin your blood and make the piercing quite messy!
Just tell your piercer you're not the biggest fan of needles.
Don't worry about that part anyway, because all reputable piercers talk you through the process.

and to the advicenator below who said her friend has "something growing on her nose", unfortunately, it can happen with some piercings.
If you get your nose pierced, clean it as instructed and LEAVE IT ALONE. Don't touch it or play with it AT ALL. Or your healing process will be set back by weeks or possibly months.

Happy piercing!

i hate needles too but i love piercings & i pierced my nose my self. they use a need about the same size as a sewing needle. they do not numb it and it only takes like 2 secs and itll sting. your eyes may water a bit but its feels like you basically pinch ur nose. once it goes half way threw the rest is no pain at all, dont owrry bout it. go get it done; its nuttin =]

I got mine done last year.

It feels like a burning pinch. It hurts for the first minute, and after it's fine. It'll be red for a day or two. They'll give you a starter stud, and as it heals you can always change it to whatever you want. The starter stud is pretty small, if you have extra money you can ask for anyone you want. But the starter stud is a really good price and it's perfect for your first nose piercing and/or caring for the piercing. The needle is really not that big. I didn't get my nose numbed, nope, i got it done professionally too. All she did was clean it and what not and she went right through.

It was fine in my opinion (:
Have fun.
