14/f-uhm, well i have longish brown hair, [boob-length] & i recently got my hair cut about a month ago. it used to be like belly button length. back when my hair was longer, i started to notice that it was like, falling out. not in like huge clumps, but i was suddenly aware of like stray hairs on my shoulder & pillow & stuff.
*i know that you lose like 100 hairs a day* but like i never noticed it this much before. now it seems to be getting worse. when i take my hair out of a ponytail,i lose like 6 strands each time. when my hairs wet, there seem to be strands that are mcuh longer than the others, but it just turns out that they're no longer like attached to my scalp or whatver. i talked to my doctor, but she didn't put much thought into it. i know it could be a thyroid problem; but my hairdresser says i'm too young for that. does anyone have advice to make it stop or at least slow down?! thanks mucho! ♥
My hair does the exact same thing. Even when I went to the hairdressers, she said my hair was coming out "too much". It's partly because my hair is super thick, but also because I don't wash it like I should. You're supposed to massage the shampoo & conditioner into your hair. Also, change the shampoo & conditioner you use. Make sure it's not one of those 2-in-1 kinds.
My hair hasn't been coming out as much now that I got a haircut & changed shampoos & conditioners. Also, don't pull it back too hard when you put your hair in a ponytail. It pulls the strands out more. It's something people do without noticing, but does make a difference.

I agree with the person who answered before me about the chlorine and brushing your hair and stuff. I just wanted to add that it is very possible for you to have a thyroid problem right now because I had one from when I was like 6-11. I had hypo-thyroid and I'm not quite sure if that effects hair loss though. I know that thyroid problems are somewhat hereditary though. Talk to your mom, though, just in case. ask her if there are any records of thyroid problems in your family. I'm sure your fine but double checking can never hurt!

umm.. my thyroid problem did go away, but I was on medication for it while I had it. My doctor tried to see if I was okay without it, and I was. I'm not sure if it goes away on everyone though. [ xheytherexlolx's advice column | Ask xheytherexlolx A Question ]

Or since it's summer if your not brushing it as much as you were during the school year, that could cause the falling out as well. Or if you hot iron, or curling iron your hair alot. Your hairdresser should be able to tell you if parts of your hair are dead and just need to be cut. But you said you just got a hair cut a month ago. If your doctor doesn't think much of it then I wouldn't worry to much. Just keep an eye on it. And brush your hair regularly. Also in the shower scrub really hard with shampoo and get all the dead hairs then. Chlorine in the pools can kill your hair quickly as well so just watch that. If your drinking lots of water, that not only helps your skin but it sometimes helps your hair! So good luck! :)
