The only problem is is that I'm using Microsoft OfficeLive for designing my website, and you can't switch the hosting if you want to keep the domain. On OfficeLive, there aren't really any teen-friendly backgrounds, and I don't think that you can import your own background either, but I'm gonna contact support and see if I can and how.
Is there anything that I should do besides change the background and layout?

www.Buddy4u.com
That's a site for girls from ages 11-18 usually. They design their own sites & actually go donate a lot of time/effort in their sites. If you make a site on there [I've made many top sites], you can advertise your site & give reasons why they should visit & join. It is the right crowd you would need.
Google is also another option. Your friends can also tell people at school about it.
