Modeling is different from acting. You can try getting a modeling agent where you live now, and do some print ads which will help you. Another way which I've heard from a friend who wants to become a model is go to modeling agencies websites. Find their addresses (most are located in NY but some have offices in other cities like Chicago, Miami, Boston). You could send a head shot, full body shot, and other pictures they tel you to. (On some of the websites they tell you how to send in your pictures if you want to become a model). You could even call them up and ask them if you could go ahead and send your pictures.
Other agencies having 'open calls' or 'casting calls' which is basically anyone who lives in that area, to try out and become a model. This is really good because they might sign you to a good modeling contract. It'd be better if you lived in NY since it is one of the fashion capitals of the world.
In general with both of these be prepared for rejection. I don't mean to be harsh, but you'll need to grow a thick skin (especially with modeling). So don't give up, try and try again.

i just do it at a small theater in my town.
after you get some experience, see if you can find an agent.
and by experience i mean, actually have done the shows.
i dont know any agents, but i know they're the ones that find out where the auditions are and what theyre for.
i also know that theyre expensive.
i dont know if they do both modeling and acting through the same agent.
but make sure you kinda know what you're doing, with acting, before you get an agent. sorry i cant tell you much about modeling.

As far as modeling goes, if your talking about "runway" type modeling, there are modeling companies that will have lots of profiles of different models, and when a designer needs a specific looking model, the company would give the designer her picture and he would contact her. These modeling companies are in New York, Beverly Hills, LA, and places like that.
If your just talking about magazing modeling, like for JC Penney, you can just go to the store and ask for information on where you can apply.
