orphans answered Thursday July 12 2007, 11:43 am: hey
your weight is constantly fluctuating because of water weight. you may always lose 1-2 or even THREE whole pounds as every few days passes. it's also normal to gain or lose one to two pounds before and after your period.
i would say, no, its probably not normal that you gained five pounds before your period starts. however, you may be under some sort of stress due to a job, maybe? your appetite is partially suppressed when you are having your period, so you'll lose the weight if that is your concern.
if you're really worried about the sudden weight gain, you should talk to a doctor about it because it may be something that's not normal.
check your weight after one week, though. if you continually are gaining weight, maybe it's not because of your period. maybe it's because of your eating & exercising. if your weight keeps fluctuating among 1-5 pounds, it's probably nothing serious. - just waterweight perhaps. BlackAngel answered Thursday July 12 2007, 11:40 am: Yeah, unfortunately it is. It's really just bloating which can be reduced pretty easily by avoiding certain foods, mostly anything with large quantities of salt and even sugar can cause problems. Your body will use the salt especially to retain fluids and cause you to gain weight and bloat. Drinking lots of water will help flush the salts/other things through your system and reduce the bloating somewhat. [ BlackAngel's advice column | Ask BlackAngel A Question ]
