If I burn just music into a dvd disk, will it play in the car?

No. There is a different format to make it play, so it wouldnt work. It could work if you had a DVD player, but not with a CD player usually.

You would need a DVD player. Even if you only have music on the DVD it still will not work because the format is different than the normal CDR or CDRW.

It depends entirely on if you have an mp3 player in your car, and what formats it supports.
I have a CD player that supports it, but to be honest I've never tried it on a DVD as it'd be far too much hassell to scroll through the songs and find the one I want with 4 gig of songs to choose from!
You can pick up a face off CD-MP3 player for your car for next to nothing anyway.
