Wow I gotta agree with hating the things in your mouth, especially if you're going to have it on for a year.

Hmm...Well I'm pretty sure you won't be able to gag since he or she puts the parts one at a time.

When I was about to receive my head gear (something before I have to have my braces on), they asked me questions like "Do you breathe out of your nose? Is there any problems that might make this difficult?"

You just have to mention that to them that you gag really easily and you really mean it when you come get your braces done. Even write it on your hand if you have to before they do it to remind you and tell them to take it easy. It's their job and your mouth so they better do the heck of a good job and not start other problems!

I gotta say that a HUGE tip for anything that has to do with your teeth whether it's the orthodontist or dentist for me is to OPEN YOUR MOUTH AS WIDE AS YOU CAN! Lmao I'm serious, go to your mirror, stick your hands in your mouth and start trying now (and then wash your hands!)!

You have to try to open your mouth as large as you can. If you have a huge mouth, even better!

Dentist always tell you to open your mouth bigger so they can see your teeth when they check upon a certain one. My orthodontist didn't have a little lamp thing for each person like in the dentist so you have to keep that in mind.

You need to open your mouth as wide as you can, painful or not. As you know, braces go like everywhere in your mouth so you gotta open wide so they can see everything easily to be able to put braces in your back teeth too. You wouldn't want him to call another nurse or something to hold your mouth open and make you gag would you?

Make sure to brush your teeth nice and clean before you go to make it easier for them, if you don't already.

Well I'm not sure how long it took…depends how co-operative you are. Mine took about half an hour I think cuz the opening of your mouth really works!

But I can tell you the things they did from what I can remember..?

Ok well first thing they have to clean your teeth with the whole brushing and stuff before they put it on. If you brushed and flossed your teeth before you came, GREAT! Makes it easier for them, faster for you!

I don't remember if they did but I think they sticked these stuff in your mouth to make sure your mouth is wide open and it HURTS LIKE HELL! Made your mouth bigger when done they were done…

Um...if you didn't already have stuff around your too last teeth on both top and bottom teeth, then they'll put something around it and put this glue on it that tastes disgusting and you'll have to wait a long time and then they'll make you rinse your mouth in the bathroom. YUCK! But I think you have it on already before you get ready for your braces.

Then, the really smelly part! I hope that you've been around a skunk before and was fine with it because after cleaning, they put like the glue or some smelly thing in each teeth to stick the braces on your teeth. SMELLS LIKE SHIT! I think it’s ok then to breathe out of your mouth, if you can.

To me, other then the cleaning, that's the longest thing about putting braces on. They leave you alone for God knows how long for the glue thing to dry or cool off on your teeth. So you get like 15 minutes with a skunk -.-

Then, they just stick the brackets on your teeth, which are those square things. Doesn't hurt at all!

Still opening your mouth as wide as you can? =)

Then, you wait more so the bracket and glue go stick together to stay on your teeth...

Then here come a pretty painful or annoying part, depending on how gay your teeth are. You know when you make your hands like a C and move them up and down as if they're talking? That's kinda how they open up the brackets to hold the wire in.

It’s just a little stick, poke it in the hole of the square, move it up, and it should pry open. And they just keep doing that for every tooth.

My two smallest teeth and sensitive teeth were the ones that looked like a dog tooth on both sides on my teeth at the top. It was being stubborn and wont' open so the lady had to stick it in as hard as she could and push with all her might to open it and it finally came open and my two teeth was sore as hell.

Then they just stick the wires in, close the brackets (which doesn't hurt at all as it might opening them), and you're done!

Tip #3! Ask for A LOT OF WAX! I don't know the damn why they give you one freakin pack of wax. I think you need about 5 or 10!

It doesn't really hurt but an hour later you'll start to feel the pain of the braces coming and pulling your teeth slowly together.

You'll might need to eat soup for the rest of the week until your teeth isn't sore and can take it. I don't know if you have super sensitive teeth like mine but if you do, I had soup for every meal for 3 or 4 weeks.

If you do, PLEASE! Experiment with your soup to make it healthy! I hate it when people eat instant noodles or any kind of noodles constantly for a long time and don’t' try to make it healthy for themselves! Once in a while is ok but if you're eating it for a while like me, add some healthy stuff in it or something!

It doesn't have to be soup; just something really simple to eat that doesn't take a lot of chewing, maybe oatmeal or something.

Don't make it hard for yourself! I made smoothies for myself all week! ^-^

And as for my fruit of the day, which I couldn't eat because of my sore teeth, I just stick it in the blender and made like apple slush! YUM!

MAKE THINGS HEALTHY FOR YOUSELF! You definitely need the vitamins during these days the most. If you don't you'll get your body into even more trouble, and I doubt the pain to go with it will make it better.

Make sure to have some Tylenol with you for pain. And have your wax ready if you have cuts or anything; stick it on the tooth that's cutting it. If it works for you, maybe like 3 teeth near it just in case!

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

OH! By the way! Practice your smile in the mirror when you come home?! I couldn't really feel my mouth when it was done and didn't know how my smile was supposed to be so my mouth went crazy and it wasn't a normal looking smile.

Make sure to definitely brush your teeth after anything you eat! You'll definitely regret it later if you don't and it'll sure as hell avoid getting cuts often. I brush my teeth 6 times a day now or sometimes more.

Ha...that's it. Hopefully I didn't bore you to death reading this =] Hope you rate and good luck with your braces! My inbox is ready for you if you need any other help that I'll try to answer.
