I just downloaded DivX so I could watch movies online for free. After the download was finished, my virus protector popped up and said DivX was a virus. Does anyone else use DivX or know anything about it being an actual virus?
Additional info, added Saturday June 30 2007, 10:13 pm: I downloaded it from the official DivX website.. Want to answer more questions in the Technology category? If you recieve an alert fist ensure whatever you download has been from a reliable source, look for the official web sites on google entering something like 'DivX official' into the search box.
Also, if you do get an alert but you are almost sure that it's safe you can double check this by using an online scanner/checker such as Kaspersky Online file scanner. There is a limit of 1MB files but it's very useful and handy incase your in need of a second opinion. JustAskAlli answered Saturday June 30 2007, 9:59 pm: You probably downloaded it from a fraud website. I did the same thing on my old computer.
The only real download for Divx that you can find is on microsoft.com. So make sure that's the only website you download it from.
If you didn't, it's quite possible there was software bundled in with it and that's your problem. If it's just a case of windows blocking it, then dont worry - it's safe.<M"|
