my computer speakers.

Question Posted Saturday June 30 2007, 6:31 pm

My computer speaker is making this weird noise.
It's a mixture of clicking and static.
Anybody know what it is and how to make it stop?
It's driving me more than insane!

Try going to the back of your computer and check and see if it's plugged in the proper part, usually if it's plugged into "line in" it won't work properly.

If it's plugged into the right place,
If you have your cellphone or other device around your speakers, it makes a weird noise. It does it for me all the time.

:]

My grandpa's used to do the same thing. I dunno if they still do, since we packed his computer in the attic.. that was completely irrelevant.

Anyways, I fixed the problem [at least temporarily] by pushing the wires in farther because they were coming loose. Check cords everywhere- the back of the computer, back of the speakers, etc. You may just need new ones, I've never spent more than $30 on speakers and they've always been great. To maintain your sanity in the meantime, turn down the volume as much as possible, or use a pair of headphones/earbuds & the headphone port on the front of the computer if you have that option.
