anyone have tips? im fat and need to lose weight so im starting to run. problem is, i live far from the park and so can only run on the road in my community, which is bad, right? because it puts stress on your knees and its better to run on grass?

running once every day wont make your knees fall out from under you. even if you are out of shape you would have to have really weak knees for them to be damaged. ive said this before, any added weight to your excersizes is added burned calories. try walking around with ankle weights for a day and during your running. that really builds up leg strength. and dont just run do different excersizes. like situps and stairs. WEIGHT LIFTING MAKES A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM A FAT LOSS PROGRAM. seriously. try lifting light amounts of weights. carrying like 10 pound or even 5 pound dumbells while you run is good.
anyway theres more but this stuff will get you started.
good luck! [ katiekat's advice column | Ask katiekat A Question ]
easterngirl answered Saturday June 30 2007, 3:17 pm: Try going on a treadmill for about five minutes a day for one week.
Then the next week for about ten minutes.
Then the next week keep adding on five minutes.
You will slowly speed up.
:D
Hope I helped.
