labtop

Question Posted Sunday June 24 2007, 12:45 pm

I am getting a new labtop for school soon and I have had no experience in buying one---Here are the brands I was considering: Dell, Gateway, HP--My pricing range is for under $1000 (including Microsoft Office & Anti-Virus)..Can anyone recommend something to me and tell me your experience with your labtop?

I've had good experiences with Dell and HP, I'd avoid Gateway. Look at this for a list of good laptops:

Remember that everything's cheaper on the internet!

Use one of these free antivirus instead of the paid kind:

If you insist on using a paid antivirus, use NOD32:

Try the free openoffice instead of Office, it's similar and can handle most of the same things:

I've had a Dell Laptop that has been pretty good to me for a little over 3 years & @ the time it was $650. It seems like more problems occur with laptops though. Some will overheat after so long, you'll have some kind of problem with the battery, etc. I, personally, hate laptops besides having the ability to travel with it. I never thought I could say this, but I actually prefer desktops & I'm definitely getting one when I get the money. But if you are set on a laptop, get a Dell or HP. I've never had experience with a Gateway laptop, so I wouldn't know about that one.
