1. start taking voice lessons with the right instructor (if you don't feel that you work well with one, switch to another)
2. discover what genre of music really suits you, then focus on it. (ex: for me, it's broadway)
3. Look for auditions and go to any singing auditions that you can. (such as american idol, america's most talented kids, etc.)
then just keep working hard with your voice teacher and practicing on your own.
but I just want to warn you about this: singing is the hardest profession in the world (next to musical theater) to excel in. And VERY few people are able to make their living this way. But there is NOTHING wrong with trying!
So if after you graduate from high school you still feel that you want to persue singing as a career- go to college and get a degree in music (try to go to a college in a city that has a lot of opportunities for singers, such as LA or NYC, or if you're a country singer then Nashville) and just work hard on your classes, and go to auditions when you're not doing schoolwork.
Then, if you can't make it as a singer you can get another more substantial job in the feild of music, such as a music teacher, musical director, composer, etc.
I really hope I helped- i'm a singer too by the way. :) ]
Start taking singing lessons. They help you develop a more mature, trained, voice that professional singers usally have. Good luck with your singing!
