I have this dime-sized lump under my skin on my jawbone. It really hurts whenever I touch it, and it moves around. It does not show on my skin, I can only feel it. I'm going to a doctor, but can anyone tell me what it might be?
Mackenzie answered Monday June 18 2007, 4:47 pm: Right, I have something that sounds identical. It's under the skin, along my jawline, nickel-sized, it can't be seen, yet if you touch your cheek you can move it around within your face, right? Yeah.. I noticed I had one when I was about 13. I didn't always have "it". I went to the dentist one time and she gave me this mouth wash - seemingly normal mouth wash, not for anything in specific. I would use it twice a day as instructed by the bottle, and I am under the impression that that's what was creating this lump. It was growing bigger each day, and it actually even feels like it's filled with fluid of some sort. When I discovered this, I stopped the mouth wash, and I haven't had any problems since. I never went to the doctor for mine. I still think that perhaps I should, but I probably won't. Mine doesn't hurt, and of course I'm not suggesting we have the same deal, because I do not have the Medicial knowledge to assume such a thing, especially without treating you in person, but the fact that yours hurts worries me even more. You are doing the right thing with having this looked at by a qualified professional, and I hope you follow through on this. I'm sorry I can't give you more ideas, but there is a slim chance that anybody here can. I just figured I would offer up my guess, seeing as how I have been curious about mine for the past six years. Goodluck to you, and please keep me informed. [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
LittleMissMatress answered Monday June 18 2007, 3:28 pm: most likely a swollen lymphnode. if you are sick, have an infection, even as simple as a cold, they swell up. you also have lymphnodes in your armpits and private area. i get them all the time because i wear cheep earrings and my ears get infected. dime-size does seem a tad large, though, so seeing a doctor is a wise choice. hope all is well!
