acting weird

Question Posted Friday June 15 2007, 6:07 am

my brother has been acting strange latley.
Im not sure if its because of the death of my aunt, who my family was really close too. But that was 2 months ago, so i dont know why hes being weird now.

Like heres a example
my brother: "why are you up so early?"
me: because im gonna ride my bike to school with some friends

then my brother just like stood there
and hes like "no"
and im like "yeah"
hes like your gonna ride the bus or get a ride from me.
Im like haha no.
but idk and he is just like worryed latley about everyone and everything like he was like to my mom when my dad just left to work. Call dad. and stuff?
weird
Hes 17 and im hopeing this is just a stage
Sometimes i always think if hes gonna like kill hisself, or someone, or do something bad.
I just heard my mom tell him to stop following her and go back to bed.

Help?

it sounds like your brother may still be struggling to get over the loss of your aunt since you did say that you were all close to her. he probably just doesn't want another family member to die and he's just trying to protect them anyway he can. you can spend some time with him until you feel he has gotten over his problem and he shows some improvement

That's pretty understandable. He just wants his family to all be safe, and to all be with him. He just wants to protect you all. Shock can set in whenever it does-- maybe it's just now sinking in completely for him. I'm pretty sure it's just a phase, because my family's gone through something like that in the last year-- just keep an eye on him-- make sure you don't just ignore it when he's acting strange. Talk to him, if you can, too. Let him know that if he needs you, you're there and that you know that he's hurting. He should be over it before too long.
