B- but high SAT scores If I have a B- average (bad i know..) but i get really high SAT scores, do I have a shot at the really good universities like Coloumbia, NYU, Dartmouth etc ?

Sure you do, if you do well on all the other requirements. If you have a really good entrance essay, lots of extra curicular activities, and some comunity service youll do fine. If you are part of a minority, make sure to hammer that in in your essay. Even if you are only like 1/16 something. Your personal essay really counts for a lot more than it should. I had a 3.3 gpa, a 1340/1600 on my SATs, and a bad SAT II score, but a good entrance essay, and I got into UCSD. If you are a senior, and have already applied, its too late to change anything, just sit back and hope. If you are a junior, join a bunch of clubs next year, and make sure you have a good essay. Some colleges have early acceptance, but youd only want to apply to one for that, since its sort of a commitment, but you are more likely to get accepted if you do it, so just do it for your top choice. ]
to be honest, probably not. I guess it's possible, but colleges have been looking at SAT scores less and less lately because they don't really represent how good a student the person is. If you want to get into good colleges you really need to pull your grades up to the A averages, and if that isn't possible, you need to get more involved with extra curriculars or community service, arts, something, if you want any shot at all.
sorry, but it's the truth
