Vikki27 answered Saturday June 9 2007, 12:11 pm: Spots are basically areas of skin where sebum (an oil naturally produced by the body) becomes blocked in pores which have become filled with dirt and general grime from daily routine. This hardens into what is known as a blackhead. Bacteria than gets caught in these blackheads and causes them to become inflamed. Sometimes they turn into whiteheads (the one we expect most often)and some don't.
The main thing to remember is that when you see a spot, you shouldn't necessarily always squeeze it. If it's red, leave it alone; if it's yellow, you can squeeze it; and if it's green, speak to a doctor because they shouldn't be that colour! [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]
