If a parabola is in the form ax^2 + bx + c, the vertex occurs at x= -b/2a. To find the y-coordinate, plug in that answer into your equation.
So if our equation is y = 3x^2 + 6x + 10
-b/2a = -(6)/(2*3) = -1
Plug in x = -1 into the equation to get the y-coordinate
3*(-1)^2 + 6 (-1) + 10 = 7
The turning point is (-1, 7) ]
