singing and playing advice (jack johnson mentioned) strum pa

(i am only using jack johnson as an example)

okay so i like to play the guitar (acoustic and electric) love to play looads of jack johnson, but!... i can sing JJ's song Taylor all the way through perfectly and playing at the same time. but i can also his other song Sitting Waiting Wishing all the way through but cant sing it all for shit as i can never seem to keep in time i try metronomes if that how you spell it (metro gnomes? lol) and still no luck so ime thinking can i only sing along with simple strum patterns or am i missing somthing??? please help if can or any good sites that you have come across that explain this sorta thing

The only way to get better at singing and playing is to practice the hell out of it. And sometimes it comes natural to some, but not others. It took me about 6 months to learn it, but my friend who has been playing as long will still be amazed at how I sing and play some parts. Just worka t it.
