probably in the wrong category sorry.

how do you make icons and avatars you can submit to iconator? i want to submit a couple.

also, how do you get like the animations on them? like make some of the words move & stuff like that. & how do you get all the cute backgrounds?.

In order to make decent avatars and icons, you'd need Adobe Photoshop or PSP. Those programs cost money...usually a lot of money unless you find it on EBay like I did.

As for the animations, that can be done with programs like ImageReady, which comes with Photoshop.

Making icons takes a lot of practice if you want good ones. You don't just get the program and automatically become a good icon maker.

I used a tutor I found on LiveJournal and I'm still not that great at animations.

As for the backgrounds, those can be found on websites, google, etc. People can get really creative with those.
