Question Posted Saturday April 14 2007, 11:43 pm

my school is doing a fundraiser for school supplies for
poor people & my parents found out. so they filled up
a whole BIG barnes & noble bag of supplies.

i don't want to carry a huge bag to school, looking like
a moron for bringing so much stuff (and it's not that i
am selfish and don't want to donate to the poor, but i
don't want to have to sort it all out when i get to school.)

i can't pre-sort because it's in one bag. and i dont want
20939583243 bags inside the big barnes and noble bag.

and i can't submit a little each day either because they
are only being collected on monday.

& DO NOT suggest that i am helping out the poor
because i won't rate you a 5 if you do.

please advice?

rating smating. Help out. you post a question on a free advice forum and bitch about helping others?

Stand out front of your school looking helpless and find a person you have a crush on and ask them to help you.

Well, since you asked for advice, I'm going to give it to you. If you don't feel it deserves a good rating, you can skip it if you feel justified.

You're not going to look like a moron. You're going to look like someone who cares about a cause that's really important. At my high school, the coolest people were the ones who got really involved in the food drives and supply drives for charity.

As for the inconvenience of sorting out the stuff... deal with it. I'm sure that you can spare just 5-10 minutes of your life to touch the lives of others.

Try seeing things from your parents' point of view. They obviously care about this cause, right? Otherwise they wouldn't have spent their time and money putting together the bag. If you try thinking about what's best for others instead of worrying about 'looking like a moron' and 'having to sort it all out', then you have the potential to become a truly charitable person and make a big difference in the world.

Furthermore, I'd suggest that you try doing volunteer work in a food bank or soup kitchen; it would change your whole perspective on things.

ADDITION: I'm sure you can be late to class if that's the reason. If they give you a detention, explain why and I bet they'll let it slide.

hey, why not tell your friend about what your parents did? im sure that you can split it up into at least two bags and make your friend carry on in with you. meet before school and walk in together with the two seperate bags.
