She might be asking for help, but she's giving herself an eating disorder. Tell her that if she wants to lose weight, she needs to do it the healthy way rather than killing yourself. If she doesn't listen to you, tell an adult you trust because they can probably help in ways you can't. Possibly a health teacher, a gym teacher, the nurse or a counselor.
ChaosDragon answered Thursday April 12 2007, 6:58 pm: First off, you need to let them know that not eating is not the answer. It can be very dangerous, and can lead to major health problems later on in life. Now, the answer to your question is that it depends on the person and how active they are (probably not exactly what you wanted to hear). But, and I am not trying to be mean, you really REALLY need to help them find a diet they like and can do. They may think a crash diet is the only thing to do but it is not. You need to support them in there ideas, yes, but his is a very bad idea. Try to figure out a way you can help them lose weight in a safe way. For example, exercise and diet. For people who are overweight or obese it is much more dangerous than people who are not. I am not saying it isn't dangerous for normal or skinny people, but it is really hard on the body to go without food. If you need more help, please send me a message to my inbox. PinkLady4863 answered Thursday April 12 2007, 6:56 pm: first of if your friend is not eating an you are aware of it, even if she seems like shes trying to hide it, subconciously she is trying to let you know. this is her cry for help, doubtful she really has an eating disorder because speaking from personal experience, people who truly have a disorder are quite skilled at hiding it. The real issue may not be her eating habits, she is asking for somebody to listen or for some attention so the best solution is to sit and speak with her.
and to answer your question, it all depends on the amount of activity. if a person is not eating, or eating 400 calories or less per day, then on average they will lose 1-2 lbs. per day. this may not be entirely visible until a week after because a few lbs. won't make much of a differance in your appearance.
i really hope your friend is alright, it is important you help her through this struggle. please let me know if there is anymore questions or concern with this. i hope i helped =] [ PinkLady4863's advice column | Ask PinkLady4863 A Question ]
