birth control help

Question Posted Monday April 9 2007, 12:06 am

Ok so I'm taking a birth control called reclipsen....and so far i took it for a month and a week.....well the first month it made my stomach hurt pretty much the whole time until i got my period...so im guessing thats a side effect....but when it came to the sugar pills i only took three of them...for the week and didnt take the other ones...that doesnt effect the prevention right? I did start on the pill once that week was over... but im kind of bad at remembering to take my pill.....but ive either taken it as soon as i remembered or two the next day...so am i fully protected?

You don't have to take any of the sugar pills. They're just there to remind you to keep taking them. If you don't remember to take your pill, you are NOT fully protected. Even taking it a few hours after the normal time may cause you to get your period.
You have to take your pills at the same time, every day. I used to take them to regulate my period. I would put them on my bathroom sink so I remembered to take them after I brushed my teeth every night.
Hope this helped!

The link above gives information on the drug you are taking, including side effects. Stomach cramps are included in the side effects.

I can't tell you if you are fully protected, because I didn't come across anything that talked of your situation. My suggestion is to consult your pharmacist about that. Knowing how drugs work is what they are trained to know.
