singing - scared!!!

Question Posted Friday April 6 2007, 8:24 pm

omg. ok. so. im 13/f and am really outgoing and nice and everything. i love sports, theatre, and make straight A's. I'm pretty good at singing too, but I'm soooo scared to do it in front of people. I don't know why. I'm going to a speech tournament and I'm doing a vocal solo, along with other speaking and acting stuff. I have no problem with those - singing is the only thing that freaks me out in front of people.

Please help - no one else seems to give good enough advice. Oh and I've tried doing it in front of my friends first - but even that Ican't do. Not even in front of my mom, which I tell EVERYTHING.

hey

just relaxxx! it's totally cool. we all have stage fright... even celebrities! i totally know how you feel - but i dont sing like that. just in the shower :P

well, first you have to be confident. you may be thinking, "well it's not that i have a lack of confidence.." well, if you do what i'm about to tell you it might help. first, sing to yourself. look in the mirror, look right in your eyes & just sing a song. be confident. let your voice flow. & just remember that you are singing, staring right into your own eyes. it's just you, alone. go up to your mom. sit her down & sing to her. look into her eyes. just imagine yourself singing in front of your mirror. think to yourself, "i sound so good! i am going to make it big time one day babyy!" & you will. just close your eyes & picture yourself standing in front of your mirror, singing your heart out. if you conquer that, do that in front of a couple of friends. now dont be scared. you have to find the confidence within yourself. just keep picturing yourself in front of your mirror, just you & yourself. or if you feel really confident in front of your mom, imagine your mom & you standing there, in the mirror. & sing to them. just keep practicing in front of the mirror. be serious. it's just you... & who cares what people think? if you're scared thinking about what people will think about your voice, imagine all the singers out there with haters. no one is perfect. everyone will have some people that don't like them. but all that matters is the majority. dont look at the people you're singing to. close your eyes & imagine yourself just singing to yourself, in the shower or in front of a mirror.

i guarantee, if you are passionate about singing & you really want to be more confident about yourself in front of people, what i told you will help.

i really hope i helped you & you conquer your fear of singing in front of people.

- :]
