Long hair: washing it too much?

Question Posted Tuesday April 3 2007, 2:12 pm

15/f (sorry if it's in the wrong category)

I have VERY long hair. And my hair's like really thick and healthy. Lately, I've been washing it too much. And now I worry that it will like all fall out. I've been noticing that it's getting thinner and thinner. But sometimes, however, it's normal. I wash my hair like every 2-3 days...and sometimes, when I put gunk in my hair, or come out of the pool, I was it every day. I don't know what to do. My hair gets greasy VERY quickly. And I mean like every 2-1 days. And it's gross just walking around like that (since my hair is always down). This causes me to wash it so often. Now I'm worried that all of my beautiful hair will either wear out, or fall out...or something bad will happen. ;_; advice please? :'(

Hey. Don't be nervous about losing your hair. As you grow up your hair will thin out a little bit and that's normal. Washing your hair every two or three days is also what most hair dressers would reccomend. I`ve read that if you run lemon juice through your hair then rinse it out or wash it, it sucks up all the grease. If you google tips for long hair I`m sure you will find something that works just for you. Good luck ♥ fabulous

To keep the oil away and make it dazzling shiny I put a mixture of 2 eggs, equal amount of curd and 2 drops of lime. Sounds gross but my long hair look like that of a celebrity. Just beat the mixture for 5 minutes and aply it from the root of your hair to the tip and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then, first wash it off with water and then apply a shampoo (I use pantene). It doesn't stink and makes your hair more manageable and full. Just like a celeb...

ok, i used to have long hair and i would always put my hair in a braid. and my hair is REALLY thinck. but my sister has thin hair and it gets oily alot. you could probably start doing other things with your hair. there is this store called "sally's beauty salon" in there, you can get this fake hair clip and put your hair in a pony-tail and then clip it on. it looks really pretty afterwards. another thing that you could do is donate your long hair to the locks of love foundation. that is what i did. then you can ask the person doing your hair for a deep cleaning shampoo. just for your info, the locks of love foundation takes the hair that you donate and makes wigs for people that have cancer.
