how long should this battery last?

i just got a new battery for my lattitude c600/c500(its both) laptop. it wasnt exactly BRAND new. it was almost new. it was off ebay. when i unplugged my old one it would say __% remaining ___hours left if i scrolled over the battery button ;this one doesnt do that i tried google searching and i didnt see exactly what i was looking for ;if you have a dell lattitude c600/c500 how long does your battery last ;if you have a laptop how long does your battery last;any infomation you may have will be greatly appreciated.

sorry i dont know how to fix it. but my batter will last about 12 hours.
