Piercing friend's cartilidge?

Question Posted Friday March 23 2007, 6:07 pm

Okay, so I want to pierce my friends cartilidge, and she wants it done. Does anyone have any tips/experiences to share? And, how big of a needle shoud we use and what are the steps other then numbing, sterilizing, cleaning, and putting in the pin then the earring?

Has anyone had a good/bad experience with self-piercing the cartilidge? Please share.

thanks

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a professional do it. Yes, I know it's possible to pierce it yourself, but if you make ONE wrong move, her ear could swell up like a balloon, become permanently deformed, extrememly infected, etc. The risks ARE NOT WORTH IT. It only costs maybe $20 bucks to get it done at claires or a typical jewelry store. It's well worth the price for your friend's safety.

One of my friends tried piercing her cartilage awhile back and she ended up in the hospital a few days later because it got so infected.

I know you rated the first person a 1 for telling you to go to a professional but I'm gonna repeat it again for your safety, and your friend's.

No. Please go to a professional and have it done. It's safer for both you and her.

Should something go wrong with her piercing, will you be able to handle the consequences?

Do you know the right angle to pierce?
Do you think it's gonna be an easy task? i don't think so.

Never ever ever tamper with things that requires expertise.

I pierce mine all the time. Just get a needle or piercing earring [thats what i use] and then clean it off with alcohol and then just pierce it. Really fast also. I have pierced several of my friends cartlidges. just make sure you tell them to clean them daily. and all mine that i have done myself have turned out good =]

My friends (5 of them) have pierced their belly buttons, ears, lips and all 5 experiences turned out with scabs and infections for them. I don't have any tips other than to go to a professional! These things never work out well.

I really don't think that is very safe if you are not an expert. You really should go to a professional. It is only gonna be like $25-$50 which is a lot cheaper than going to the doctor if something goes wrong which could be anywhere from like $100 on UP! and that's assuming you have insurance. Just save and go to the professional. What are you like not old enough or something? Peace
