when taking shots, what is the point of the lime? do you use it before or after? someone fill me in thanx

The lime basically acts as a chaser. Alcohol burns while going down, so it takes away some of that, and makes it taste better. You take it after you take the shot. :]

You take the lime to chase the taste of the alchocol. You usually drink hard liquer and it makes a strong taste in your mouth so the lime reduces it.

Do it after to mask the taste of the tequila (usually). A salted lime tastes way better that liquor.

I don't really think there is a point of a lime. I think it is to just add some flavoring. I don't drink or anything so I'm not 100% sure. And ususally you use the lime after the shot. There is also something called a chaser. This is ususally some type of juice to "chase" the alcohol to make sure you don't throw up after the shot.
