She has an eating disorder. You and one or two more friends need to go talk to her about it.
Dr Drew has a pretty good article on how to go about doing that > [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

I think what you should do is go to your teacher in confidence and mention all of these things you have noticed. Tell them that it scares you and you think it's signs of an eating disorder (which it sure does look like as this behavior is almost always typical).

Ask the teacher to come to the lunch room area one day and just walk in, take a look at what she's doing and exit. The teacher can then confront her on his own and bring in her parents. This is the best way to do this so she never thinks you're a rat etc. even though you may be saving her from tragedy.

There's some secrets we keep and others we cannot. You need to tell someone about this. If your friend is always shaky and out of it she's heading for big trouble if she isn't already in it.

If you feel you cannot talk to your teacher or guidance counsellor tell your mother or father. They can then approach her parents and tell them that she seems very shaky and not alert and that she doesn't appear to be eating much. They'll ask them to have her checked out.

Regardless of what happens with your friend possibly lashing out telling an adult about what you have noticed is of the highest importance as she could be in big trouble. As long as she's consistently doing the things you mentioned it's cause for mentioning it to an adult.

Only a rotten friend would keep this to themselves. She'll thank you in the end believe me. It would also help too if your other friends told adults that they knew the same exact thing as well as your teachers in private. Go approach them as a united group as that's the best way to get action for a pal who is indeed in some kind of trouble.

We just don't know what and at what level but her behavior isn't normal and is cause for concern if she's shaky and not with it half the time. She could also have a drug problem or another health concern as well. At any rate raise the issue with adults as it's the responsible and moral thing to do.
