Ipod, Mp3 Convertion.

Question Posted Thursday March 8 2007, 1:23 am

Hallo, how do I permanently convert a file to Mp3 using the Itunes programm, but store it where the file used to be in the first place?
Not in the Itunes folder.
Is there some other program that could help me do that?

What I wanna do.
Add,select and drop, a really bid folder, (full of folders subfolders and subsubfolders with a lot of music) to this program this program will start converting the files that are not Mp3 to Mp3, and overrite them.
Thank you a lot in advanced.

You cannot convert music files to .mp3 with iTunes. There are other programs you can use to convert files with.

Easy CD-DA Extractor 10.0.5 allows you to import and convert media files. If they are protected, then it is prohibited by the program and by law.

One reason why your idea of dropping the one folder and subfolders into a program is because most don't work that way. For example: if you were to drag a folder icon with music files in them into your iTunes library, it would not add the music files.

I did some research and couldn't find any free programs that convert all files (protected and otherwise) into whatever format. On www.downloads.com you can search for .mp3 converters that are available for free. Some are just a demo, but there are full versions available. In terms of taking one huge folder and doing everything at once, it really depends on the individual programs. There is usually an option to import a folder instead of just a file, so I recommend looking for that first. Hope that helped and if you need more help, feel free to IM me or leave me an inbox. Good luck.
