Ok my friend Susanna (who is thin) lives with her mom. Her mom decided to make soup chicken noodle soup to take over to her one of her two granddaughters who is sick. So she asked Susanna to taste a teaspoon of the soup and the noodles. Susanna said "Mom no noodles" Her mother replied "You are not going to gain weight from a few noodles" Susanna left to go answer her phone and then came back and said "I wasnt thinking about weight" Her mom said "But I know you you watch what you eat" Susanna said "But mom I never gain weight" Her mother replied "Absolutely you never gain" Susanna asked her friends after she told them the story "Is my mom saying I gain weight if I dont watch what I eat" And her friends said "No your mom isnt saying that, what your mom is saying is she is agreeing with you that you never gain weight, but she knows you watch what you eat" MY QUESTION: DO YOU AGREE WITH SUSANNAS FRIENDS?
I think Susanna probably just questions everything her mother says to the point that he mom doesn't know what to say for fear of setting her off.
Susanna really needs to just live her life and stop worrying so much about what others say. People around her will just start saying whatever will make her happy and stop telling her the truth pretty soon just to keep her from rambling on.
I think in this case your friends know what they are talking about. The mother was simply talking and didn't mean anything negative. Sounds like Susanna has a caring mother. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
