Tampons & Period question My mom won't let me use tampons, she thinks that I'm irresponsible and she's afraid that I won't take it out every 4 hours or w/e. What can i do to persuade her?..I hate pads.
Also, I didn't get my period all last month...at all. Is there something wrong with me?

Honestly, no matter how old you are - it's your personal/hygienic preference & no one should have any rule over that. If you're responsible & feel like you strongly prefer to wear a tampon over a pad, that's your decision & your decision ONLY. You can talk to her & tell her you are aware of the risks & that you'll change very frequently so there's nothing she needs to worry about. If you have to, just buy the tampons out of the machines they have in the public bathrooms. It's not a big deal & I don't understand why it should be made out to be one if you are a responsible young lady.
To answer your other question, there's nothing wrong with you. Your period will be irregular for the first few years & even after that, it may not always come on time. It's completely normal & nothing you should be concerned about - unless you are sexually active. ]
Your mom knows what's best for you so I advise you not to wear tampons until she thinks you're ready. You can't feel them and you can catch a disease if you don't change it so it's harder to remember. But if you're really fixated on it just tell her this:
"Mom, I'm growing up and I really am more responsible. I know you know what's best for me, but at least give me a chance. I'll start out not wearing them as frequently and try to get adjusted successfully. I'll let you know if anything weird happens immediately, I promise."
Or something like that. Keep in mind that putting in a tampon can be painful if you're cherry isn't popped. Because inserting a tampon could pop it... which might make sex a bit less painful later but that's another story. As for your being normal, if you've had your period for about a year or a year in a half you're fine because you can have iregular periods from time to time... or maybe never have them regularly! So it's ok and there's really no reason to be worried, to the best of my knowledge, but if you are really concerned I suggest seeing a doctor about this... but I don't think it's anything abnormal.
Good luck with tampons! Lol

It seems a bit overprotective, but it comes from real concern. There is probably few times you really need to wear tampons right now, anyway. I am sure she would let you wear them for swimming etc. It is not going to change your life by wearing them, anyway. She is most likely afraid you'll get toxic shock at worst or even an infection. There was a doctor on Oprah that said grown women come into his office all the time with infections because they did not remember to take the last tampon out!!! Gross, but I guess it can happen to adult women, even. When you do use them just use the lightest ones possible to prevent toxic shock and yes, change often and remember the last one. Now about missing a period...if you are not sexually active, it is most likely that you are just hormonally adjusting to a regular time, but if it continues to be very sporadic, then talk to mom or a doctor. Some girls can miss periods if they are not getting enough nourishment, so make sure you have enough good calories and vitamins in your diet to sustain your health and wellness. ]
uhmm about the first question just prove to her youtake your pads out every 4 hours and tell her you will do it every 3... i skip periods to if its teh begginning or the first couple of times its totally normal its suppose to happen the first year or 2.. if you've had it a while take a pregnancy test=] ]
