Yeast Infection?

Question Posted Thursday March 1 2007, 9:01 pm

After having sex for the first time, I didn't feel chronic pain though it hurt for only a small amount of time when the penis was inserted inside the vagina. After a while, my vagina starts to itch and I examined it.. it contained white cottage cheese-like substance inside my vagina. I'm not sure whether the sex or lack of lubricant around the vagina area caused this. I don't know.
And also, I'm not sure if my hymen is broken or not.. I'm not quite sure how to tell.

Hiya, sorry this took so long.

What you described is perfectly normal. Pain after/during your first time should be relatively minimal and last for a short amount of time.

The substance inside of your vagina could be one of three things: discharge, semen (unless you used a condom,) or an infection. If it's either of the first two, there's nothing wrong. You'll be fine. If it's the third one, then you need to see a doctor. If it's gone away since you sent this question out, then don't worry about it.

Since it was your first time, sex is usually a little uncomfortable and dry. A lubricant would help, but it wouldn't have anything to do with an increase of discharge. The vagina naturally produces the discharge to help wet itself down to prepare for intercourse. It shouldn't have anything to do with what you described.

Chances are, your hymen is broken. Not always does it break, but normally it will. That's, most of the time, where the pain during your first time comes from-- the tearing or breaking of the hymen. Some is assosiated with allowing the penis to fit inside you comfortably. A simple pelvic exam can tell you for sure, but your boyfriend can probably tell during sex whether or not it's broken-- he'll be able to slide into the vagina easier.

Okay, so that was long. But I hope it makes up for lack of speed answering your question. Sorry about that, I'm usually pretty good.
