omg. i have a singing competition TOMORROW well i have to hand in the form to what song im singing. i have no freaking clue what song i will choose. ive thought of these so far..
Bye bye blackbird - Shirley Bassey
If I ain't got you - Alicia Keys
Over the Rainbow - Wizard of Oz
Fly like a bird - Mariah Carey
Deja Vu - Beyonce (but i cant get all those high notes. the same with the mariah carey song. i cant sing EXTREMELY high like they do, but like at a moderate level i guess)
any other suggestions? seriously give it your best shot cause tomorrow i'll wake up and just choose whichever song you guys pick before i go to school. it means alot to me and its for a teens art festival coming up soon. i think i sing pretty good.. maybe i could practice in front of my parents and friends to see if im good.. im kinda shy about singing around people that arent my family though, too. like usually in chorus people sing super high especially for this broadway musical im in now called Oliver!. sometimes i have to fake sing cause i wanna sound like the other kids and not sing too.. like.. different. my parents are from africa so like.. no offense but i dont really sing like white people (im not racist!!!!!! lol just to make that clear). but like any song sugestions? i guess i'd be an alto.. sometimes i can get a little higher but not too high like da sopranos. thankyou!

Also, as you've said you sing different to others, it will probably show off your voice more. Alicia's really talented. and I think you should go for it because It's quite original, whereas you can guarantee Over the rainbow will always be done at a singing competition!
I wish you the best of luck in the competition, which ever you choose to go for. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
