slow comp when active programs

what can i do to keep like 3 programs at oce open and not hav my computer slow significantly?
-i keep widow media player on
-aim
-and i play runescape all at once

i reall want to keep these 3 open

Buy more RAM. 512MB to 1GB will increase your performance. It'll be between $40 and $100 to buy that. Make sure you don't buy storage/hard drive/hard disk. Anything that advertises space of more than 2GB isn't RAM. To get RAM, go to best buy or wherever WITH YOUR COMPUTER, and say "I would like to buy 512 megabytes of RAM" or "I would like to buy 1 gigabyte of RAM". Make sure they install it; you won't be able to.

Very likely other people who answer this question will give the the advice to buy a bigger hard drive. Don't; that is a waste of money and not at all related to your problem.
