I have the same problem, and I told my doctor about it and she told me to start going to bed and getting up at the same time every day, including weekends. This might be tricky if you like to do thinks on weekend nights so just get as close as you can to your normal schedule. Eventually you should be able to sleep. Also, you might want to find something that calms you, like soft music or a scent that can lull you to sleep.

Like a child, sometimes adults have to regulate themselves into a routine of sleep patterns. I agree with Miss Bonne that you need to perhaps have a soothing bath with oils, a calming tea/milky drink and a cosy, dark bedroom. Stick to the same time to go to bed at night and to get up in the morning and eventually your body clock will reset itself. It may take a few weeks but if you persist, it will pay off in the end. If you do have a late night, try not to have too much of a lay-in in the morning. Hope this helps.

Our young adult body clocks are programmed to sleep in the early am and wake up in the afternoon.

It sucks, its horrible but there are ways to reprogramming your clock.

Start going to be about 15 minutes earlier each week, drink some calming tea, take a bath - anything to get you more relaxed.

Make sure the room is a comfortable temp, quiet and dark too.
