hey! yes badminton defenitly is an oficial sport. my bff plays badminton on a local team (not school team). they have practice 4 teams a week and are very very very good. Playing in gym isnt quite like what they do though, they run a lot, and do tons of hard work-outs. But it defeintly is a sport, and my friend loves it! so if you had fun in gym, you should defeentitly try looking for a local team. (it shouldnt be too hard to find one)
good luck!
hope i helped!

I guess you could say it's an official sport - they play it in the Olympics. It was played in ancient Greece and Eygpt and was originally called battledore or shuttlecock. It ws also called Poona in India, and only got the name Badminton after the Duke of Beaufort introduced at a house party in 1873. It had no official name at the time but as his house was called Badminton............!

If you enjoy it that much, look around for a club. It's a great sport and will keep you fit.
