I HAVE TO GET RID OF THIS ACCENT

Question Posted Saturday February 17 2007, 9:22 pm

So i've been acting a lot lately with a southern accent- just joking around with my best friend.

the truth is i DON'T have a southern accent but i've found myself subconsciously pronouncing some vowels liek i'm kind of southern. i need to stop because i dont want people to think i'm southern.

its like i forgot how to talk normally.

help me lol.

i honestly dont know why, but ever since i remember I have given certain words a southern accent! its kinda weird. no one knows where it comes from!
for ex- banana... ill say it... bun aynuh
its really weird... and its hard to say certain words because of this odd accent- i have a hard time saying particularly, certainly, clumsiness

it will go away for you, dont worry!

Haha, it seems like everyone's been through something like this, with different accents. I've been through it too. Like those below me said, just try talking as normal as you can and you'll get rid of the southern accent soon enough.

oh i feel ya homes, my home girl just got up and dipped to some rich town of preps, and we all ghetto, so when she came back down to live she was talkin all proper it was funny, but bein round us changed her living style back to normal...
So just try to catch your self in tha process, or when typing to your friends type normal and read it out loud, maybe that might help...
But aint no one gone bust on you if you have a southern accent,
hope i helped

omg lmao same here! Just keep practicing and you'll get used to it. It's just like a foreign exchange student getting used to speaing English and loosing their accent. Though, we really should stop being mean lmao

Lol, hey, I did that with my best friend too with a british accent. Just keep trying to talk as normal as you can, and very quickly you'll be able to speak with your regular accent. :) You might keep speaking like that since it happened to me heh but your regular accent will snap back soon, nothing to worry about.
