GabrielleandDanielle answered Saturday February 17 2007, 1:32 pm: Danielle: Think to yourself doll, how did he ask you? Was he in a more relaxed tone of voice like he was talking to one of his guy friends, or waws he a little nervous? Exactly where did he ask you to go out, if he asked you near his home, he probably wants to chill, but if he asked you out to a movie or to eat, it leans toward the dating thing. So if it is a date, go buy a new outfit that is hanging in the shop window at the mall and break some hearts. ;)
Gabrielle: Well Hun, if I have been in lots of situations like that, and if you don't like to be crushed, take this advice. Well, If he asked you around lots of buds or wasn't really paying attention to you, well, it's probably asking to chill. If he asked you to be alone, and then asked you paying more attention to you than ever, it's a date! Go get that make-up and ask a friend to beautify you. ;)~ [ GabrielleandDanielle's advice column | Ask GabrielleandDanielle A Question ]

Hanging out= two or more friends getting together to do something fun.
My guess is that he said "hang out" so as not to scare you away by saying "Hey! Wanna go on a date with me?" I'm pretty sure he'll consider it a date, since you both like each other.
