birthday trouble. sorry it's sort of long.

Question Posted Friday February 16 2007, 10:54 am

my best friend, marah's, birthday was yesterday, and her & her boyfriend and a few other people are going out to eat tonight. my boyfriend [clay] and i were invited. but, clay and i already had plans to go out to eat and do the whole "valentine's" thing tonight [because we were both snowed in on v-day] and then come back here and have dinner with my some of my family that's in for the weekend. so, i told marah i'd try and go, but knew i most likely couldn't make it. of course, this made her mad.

last night, my other best friend and i went to grab something to eat, to her brother's middle school basketball game, and back to her house to watch our favorite show. well, marah got pissed and put up an away message saying "thanks for inviting me on my birthday!", obviously directed at us. earlier in the day she told us she and her boyfriend were going to try and do something to celebrate tonight. or else we definitely would've invited her. [note: she's the type that's always with her boyfriend- like she has to pick, friends vs. boyfriend, and she always chooses boyfriend. she never hangs out or attempts to hangout with us anymore.] i'm very close to giving up on the girl- she's constantly pushed me & my best friend aside [we all three used to be practically sisters, now its down to two], and hasn't been out with us for months because she's with her boyfriend all the time. i've had a boyfriend much longer than she has [they've been dating around 7 months, my b/f & i almost a YEAR and seven months.] we're even closer than her and her boyfriend, but we both make sure to hangout with our other friends, unlike her.

what is her deal, and what can i say to tell her how i feel without pointing fingers at her or blaming it on her? any help is appreciated.

wow you have the exact same problem as me. its like identical. my friend is basically obsessed with her boyfriend and its rather gross im not gonna lie and her and i never hang out anymore because shes always with him. i would definitly tell you to say something to her online or whatever before you guys get too far apart. thats what happend to me and my bestfriend. i decided to just let it go and not talk to her anymore if she didnt make the attempt to talk to me in the hopes that she would call me or ask me to hang out. well she didnt. and we havent talked in about two months. so before its too late, tell her that you wish you guys could hang out more, maybe plan a few days in advance and promise eachother that you wont break the plans.

good luck
