some of the symtoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (also known as BDP) are:
1. Relationship Instabilty
2. Paraniod Ideas
3. Angry Outbursts
4. Abandonment Fears
5. Suicidal Behavior
6. Uncertainty about self-image
It's a little different from being Bipolar. When someone is bipolar, they have angry outbursts that last a while. When someone has BDP, thier angry outbursts only last a few second or minutes.alot of people with BDP will cut not only their wrists, but their face, legs, chest, stomach, and anywhere else on their body. The most common cause of BDP is childhood abuse. Most of the people with BDP have had separation, verbal abuse or physical abuse as a child. Not all people with BDP have had childhood abuse though. If you have any other questions you can feel free to ask me.

Sabine answered Tuesday February 13 2007, 5:41 pm:
If you read the book you know that she's a lot more screwed up than the movie portrays her. But there's still the matter of her swallowing pills and drinking to the point of a suicide gesture, her weird relationship with her boyfriend, her associating with the psychopath Julie, and her running away from the hospital. That stuff is all kind of abnormal, but you don't see how her thought processes were disturbed in the movie.

Check this out for an explanation of BPD:
