If I have been on birth control for one pack already, along with 2 weeks into the next pack, do you think I'm safe because my bf came in me last night and I'm not positive. Also, I've never missed a day but I've been about 4 hours MOST off from taking it. Like I take it at 9 but took it at 1 but took it at 9 the next time I took it. Do you still think I'm safe?
Melody answered Saturday February 3 2007, 6:30 pm: Doctors say to take the pill at the exact same time of the day everyday to be completely protected. To me, this is just a procaution. I'm on the pill and don't take it at the same time of the day hardly ever and i'm still not pregnant. I'm not saying you should do this, keep taking the pill at the same time by all means, i'm just letting you know about my experiences. I doubt you are pregant if you've been taking the pill for at least a month. So i'm sure your fine. [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]
LadyH answered Saturday February 3 2007, 4:47 pm: It's said that after the first couple of weeks of perfect use, you should be fine. But it's recommended to wait till after your first month to use it alone - just to be on the safe side. If there's ever a time you forget a day, don't rely on birth control alone until a week after perfect use again. Since you have been on it for over a month & have had perfect use (Those 4 hours is not a big deal AT ALL), you should be fine. But since oral contraceptives aren't 100% effective (just like any other birth control method), you are not 100% safe. I'd suggest using a condom & birth control together. That way, incase one form of protection fails, you always have the other to back you up (& there's no worrying about whether or not you were protected). But to answer your question, the likeliness of you getting pregnant is pretty low. I've been on birth control & am pretty familiar with all the circumstances, so I consider my advice reliable.
